small turbo in big engine...will it work???

Question

i saw a brand new, never used t3/t4 .50 turbo, new BOV,new intercooler and fairly new FMU 4 just $375 and i bought it 4 $225.My problem is i have a '89 camaro rs with a 5.0, 305 engine,does anyone think it will work if not why??? i have been told that its a waste of time and money to put a turbo on a camaro,but i no how to do it and i am bout to buy the special parts to do it , just would like input from people that no a thing or two about turbo...thanks, happy new year.

That depends on what it's from, but chances are you may need two of them. I once put a tiny TE04 turbo on a 3.7 liter Chrysler six - the result was a turbo that would hit full boost by 1,600 RPM and be out of breath long before readline.

There's a lot of types of T3/T4 hybrids, but I'm guessing yours is a little bit too small. However, if you can find a second turbo exactly like it, you can probably run a twin turbo setup and have it not be that far off.

Anybody who thinks turbos are a waste of time and money on a V8 probably hasn't been following street car based drag racing very closely. Set them up correctly and you can make ungodly amounts of power.

Try it the turbo is to small for that engine. You would be better off with a twin turbo cinfiguration or super charging. But you got a deal on the package. Jusat keep all the parts so if you need to go backwards you can.

you may be better off doing a swap for a bigger engine. all the effort to plumb a turbo isnt worth the ease of finding a 350 cid and throwing a cam in it.

I'm not sure, don't most dual bank engines have twin turbos?
