iT DEPENDS ON THE BRAND. YOU SHOULD USE AN OiL FREE FOUNDATiON WITH A MOiSTURiZER OR SUNBLOCK..TO HELP KEEP YOUR FACE SOFT. iF YOU HAVE NO PIMPLES AND YOUR NOT ALLERGiC TO ANYTYPE OF MAKE-UP THEN iT iZ OKiE FOR YOU TO USE IT. JUST A TiP, USE OIL FREE WITH SOME TYPE OF ACNE FIGHTING THINGS..EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T HAVE ACNE OR PiMPLES..BUT JUST TRY TO PREVEN THEM ♥

Liquid
Liquid foundations are the most versatile type of foundation, suitable for a full range of skin types. They blend easily, are available in varying degrees of coverage and often feature moisturizers in their dry-skin versions. Most liquid foundations are water-based, although some are oil-based.

Cream
Cream foundations are known for their heavier coverage and more intense moisturizing properties, making them ideal for normal, dry (and especially extra-dry) skin. A word of caution, however: They're often oil-based and should be avoided by those with a tendency toward breakouts.

Compact
Compact foundations are ideal for on-the-go women who can't be bothered with cumbersome bottles and jars. Especially suitable for oily and normal skin types, compact foundations deliver a light, sheer matte coverage when applied with a dry sponge and a heavier matte coverage when applied with a wet sponge.

Stick
Stick foundations seem wonderfully reminiscent of crayons -- Just "color" in your face and you're ready to go! -- but unfortunately, application isn't quite so simple. Although stick foundations, which are best suited for normal skin, offer the convenience of a built-in concealer, their heavier texture requires skillful blending with a moistened sponge.

Tinted Moisturizer
Tinted moisturizer foundations offer the lightest coverage available, delivering a sheer, healthy glow to the wearer. Like liquid foundations, they're ideal for a full range of skin types. Their moisturizing properties help protect against the dry skin that comes from over-exposure to the wind, sun and other outdoor elements, and as an added bonus, they often come with SPF protection.

Dewy or Matte?

One of the most common makeup questions asked by women is whether to use a dewy or matte type of foundation finish. Although these two finishes are often positioned as "fashion" statements, the simple truth is that each is most suitable for various types of skin.

While matte finishes are ideal for all types of skin, they are especially suited for oilier skin, because they help counteract and control the oil that causes undesirable sheen and shine. One possible exception is during the winter months, when the air is often dryer and oiliness is less of a problem.

The use of dewy finishes should be limited mostly to non-oily skin types, which are not as susceptible to sheen and shine.

Acne prone skin types should avoid compact foundation because the sponge grabs bacteria and they breed in that closed dark space. Sheer foundation is best on blemished, freckle lined skin, as a heavy base foundation will accentuate

It can because it blocks the pores and residue from the make-up gets trapped. When you have the make-up and the dirt and bacteria that normally collects on your face, just sitting in your pores, it gets infected, making a pimple.
Use oil-free foundation and don't use too much foundation. Don't go to bed with your make-up on. wash it off at the end of the day. If you do these things, you do not have to worry about make-up giving you pimples.

Look for a foundation that says it's non-comodogenic. That's a fancy word for "doesn't clog pores." An oil-free one would be a good idea if your skin's at the oily stage. If you look for these features in a foundation, it shouldn't cause pimples. If you get this kind, and it still does cause them, you may be allergic to something in it -- or it could be old. Make-up spoils if it's kept too long.

Foundation shouldn't give you breakouts unless there's an ingredient that you may be allergic too. If you are prone to breakouts make sure you use a foundation that is hypo-allergenic/oil free/ or dermatologist tested. You can go to your closest Ulta and ask them what they recommend or even go to the makeup counter (either MAC or Clinique are good) and ask them what they recommend.

For extra help on covering and treating blemishes use a product like Maybelline's Pure Concealer Stick (http://www.ulta.com/control/product?FT22=2125237&product_id=VP11588&add_product_id=NULL&add_category_id=&variant_id=2125237&add_amount=&quantity=1). It contains 2% salicylic acid which will help shrink your spots during the day.

it can... most foundations have alot of artificial stuff in them that can cause irritation to your skin.. ecspecially if you're prone to breakouts... try mineral makeup... It's crushed minerals from the earth.. no artificial colors.. no junk... It's a "powder" but it clings to your skin like a second skin and stays on all day.... I use it and it gives you a very natural look without bothering your skin... make sure it doesn't have Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride or preservatives in it... Have you heard of Bare Escentuals? That's pretty good.. it's pricey though.. You can find equal quality product for alot less... just look on ebay or go to walmart and pick up some Physicians Formula Mineral Wear make up.. just as good... more for your money.. better for your skin.... its also a natural spf 15.. good luck!

Pimples come from clogged pores. When they get clogged, they get inflamed and fill with fluid (a pimple). So, using a foundation that clogs your pores can definetly give you pimples. Make sure what you are using is oil-free, for starters.

Try Bare Minerals makeup instead of liquid foundation...it doesnt clog your pores and it looks so natural.

Foundaton can block your pores and induce pimples, expecially if you use one with too much oil in it, depending on your age. You should buy a quality brand, possibly oil free. It is very important when wearing foundation to cleanse your face every evening. It is however very important to wear foundation. It not only acts as a beauty product, it protects our skin from daily enviromentals such as sun damage, dirt, ect. Be sure to get one with spf in it.

If it is oil-free and non-comedogenic, it shouldn't. Also make sure you keep your make up super clean. wash your hands well with soap and water before touching your make up to avoid contamination. Often times it is bacteria growth in your makeup that causes breakouts. also try using a hypoallergenic, light moisturizer after cleansing to make a barrier between your pores and the foundation. Make sure you wash your face at night.

Probably, yes. If the foundation gets into your pores, it can cause some minor acne.

MAC is very thick stage makeup, so that's not something you would want to put on your face.

Look on the label of the certain foundation that you are using and if it says that it is NONCOMEDOGENIC then chances are that it will not give you pimples, because since it is NONCOMEDOGENIC then it will not clog your pores. You should keep in mind that excessive use of foundation is not always a good idea, even if it is NONCOMEDOGENIC.
