I'm a former geek agent, pay depends on what your title /experience is.. & the state you live in.. the first level "agent" which works in best buy stores starts around $9 -$12 an hour you checkin PC's from customers .. box up PC's to ship out to service center for advanced repair & install new software & reinstall OS etc.
if you come in as a "cadet" meaning you work in the store 60% of the time but have the ability to "follow a customer home" for inhome service generally around $12-$14 actual computer experience is required. and your expected to know what your doing.
a geek squad "senior" is 1 agent per store with more experiance ..but you have to put up with upset customers and doing reviews on regular agents. a "double agent" is someone who does in home repair 100% and is rarely in the store.. and drives the bug.
followed by a "Special agent" Special agents generally only 1 per District / 100 Mile radius.. generally MCP /CCNA or MCSE prefered certification is required as your certified to work on Win2003 servers - they also do the "high profile" clients ... movie stars, TV interviews with PCMAG, Oprah show.. and a Special Agent also traveled around with U2 on the vertigo tour doing tech support. as far as pay.. the higher levels are generally $15 to a max of about $20 -$22hr
which for an MCSE is actually quite low every geek agent wants to be a "special agent" so unless you been with the company awhile and have certifications and can handle other agents trying to backbite you and get your job .. you will also have to deal with "manager or other agent screw up's and cover there fanny" you will be oncall at 3am for emergency service and be expected to solve any technical problem.. you could probably leave the company and get a higher paying job

No I don't work for Geed Squad, but if working with computers is what you love to do you should find a job working with them regardless of the pay. Yes money is important because we have to have it to live but because most of us have no choice about having to work you need to focus more on what you enjoy doing and make a living at it than to how much money you will make at it. All you need is food shelter and love. The rest is not necessary. Being in a job or profession that makes you miserable but you stay in it because you are paid well is not a good way to live. You only have one life. Enjoy what you do.
