The undisputed king of them all is Ed McBain - unfortunately died recently but his many books are still out there and a terrific read. Also Michael Connelly, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell (and don't miss Sue Grafton - she's a one-off), Dean Koontz and many more. These should keep you going for years!! But what's wrong with the Brits?

Joseph Wambaugh is the King of fictional American crime novels. You must have read some of his books. Since he was a New York policeman he drew on his own and others experiences which make them so readable. Very humorous too.

You might try James Patterson, or J.A Jance. There are about 15 others that I read regularly, but my brain seems to have gone out for pizza just now. Stuart Woods is pretty good too.
