My boyfriend said that he knows he is getting "weird" emails from his old girlfriend because he knew her computer's ISP address. I say "how can that be"? I'm kind of jealous and wondering if he is being truthful with me - all around.

You people are killing me.

If the person is using web-based email account there is no way to tell it is them based on the header alone. All emails from any email servicer provider go out on trunk IP addresses. Unless this person is using their place of employment to send emails. You cannot tell just by the header who the person is. At the very least you can tell that the email came from hotmail, yahoo, comcast, etc. But that's it.

Well it is possible but I sort of doubt it. Just wondering how come you didn't have the password, it was your computer right? kind of odd, sounds like your son is over-controlling, no offense. He could have put a key logger or other type of device to monitor key strokes but technically those are illegal without the persons consent or depending on state law. If he did have a file on you and it came from your computer that couldn't be used in court if it was stolen or taken from your computer without permission it would get thrown out of court. In the end I don't really think he did anything to your computer. Oh and also your IP address is probably dynamic so it changes every so often, unless you have a business account with your internet provider, b/c technically if you had the right programs and the ip address you can even view what a persons doing on their computer at the moment.

It's possible. Most email has what's called "headers", which contain routing info and IP numbers (if available). However, if your guy's ex is on dial up or DSL, then her IP will be dynamic, which means it would change each time she dials into the Internet. HOWEVER, the first two octets (sections) of her IP address would stay the same.

If she has cable Internet, then her IP address will mostly likely stay the same.

.
Yes.
Also, you should not be jealous girl, he's with you now.
If you feel she is still chasing after him
then you need to learn to TRUST him
to find a way to make it more clear to her that he doesn't want her to contact him.
Give him the trust
(unless he does something to break that trust)
and then tell him, that if she's sending weird emails
that you want him to "reply" to her and
say CLEARLY
that he is in a relationship with you,
and that:

"I am no longer interested in keeping a relationship with you, not friends either as that would not work I'm sure, and I wish you all the best.
Regards Hisname"

Then make sure HE pushes the SEND button (not you).
That will finalize things for her...and
put you more at ease.

In the odd case he would not agree to do this
maybe then you could have a "trust issue" in this thing.
