The Catholic Church is not just against the death penalty, it is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
- All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
- The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in fitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
- The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanazia
- Prisoners in objecting to the death penalty
- The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.

With love in Christ.

I don't, for one.... And I know that there are many others. It is quite easy to support the right to life of an unborn child as well as the execution of a criminal, both logically and Bucolically. The Pope doesn't speak for all Christians and not even all Catholics in this case.

You bet life is sacred. However, Saddam killed 2 million. The Catholic church killed over 150 million in the name of religion. Who are they to talk?

Some anti-abortionists would say that the death penalty is permissible because the person that committed the crime choosed to be a murderer.....while an embryo, or unborn child did not choose to be evil and therefore killing an unborn child is like killing an innocent person

Pro-lifers only fight for the lives of the innocent and the disabled. A number of leftists enjoy murdering/killing the innocent and protecting the guilty.

Many to most of the pro-lifers are not Catholic, so if they do not support Catholic doctrine, then it should be no surprise.

First, all of us aren't Catholic. Second, there's a difference between killing an evil man, like Saddam, and innocent babies.

The Catholic church should clean up it's own act by getting rid of priest's who violate young boys. In other words, mind their own business.

I don't care what the Pope says or does I'm not Catholic. I am a Christian and I do not believe in abortion but I stand my ground on Saddam being hung.
