By realizing that music trends definitely change every 10 years and that the public tastes are fickle

By writing a good song with a good hook. The biggest money is made from song publishing royalties. So the song needs to connect with people in a way that every generation will know the song. In a way that the song will get remade several times, generating more cash flow. If the song's forgetable, then the profits will be as well.

Today's junk music has a limited audience. We need a new Elvis Presley or a new Beattles to introduce an entirely new type of music. (Without the loud drums).

for starters you need to ask your self " why would someone want to see my band live"?
what do you have the the others don't?
What are you willing to do on stage that no one else has done before?
How much free stuff are you willing to give away to your fans?
Look at bands that have been around for a while like Kiss.
