I don't think marriage is what it used to be. It's an outdated tradition that just doesn't cut it in today's world. Not everybody wants marriage or children. Some just want companionship. A piece of paper is the only thing that keeps some people officially "married", but I know plenty of people that are divorced emotionally. What's the point in that. Marriage isn't right for everybody. Women have so many more choices now with education, jobs, single-parenting. More and more women are choosing to have children on their own, with no intention of getting married. Whereas men used to be the "bread winners", and women stayed home, the roles are changing, and women don't depend on men like they used to. I don't think marriage is necessarily as important as "family". Family doesn't even have to be blood-relatied, just who you love, and who loves you back.

Yes, that's right marriage is very very important part of life. Its equally important for both males and females. In fact marriage is a protective wall between good and bad.
It takes care of moral and ethical values. Real life starts after marriage. It creates a sense of responsibility.
You are right married couples should be faithful to each other. They should show patience, be loyal to each other. They should always have positive thinking. Never think of divorce or separation
Divorce, though allowed, but is not liked at all.

Marriage is not at all important for survival. Husband and wife should get along, but these days it is not happening that much. Women are getting educated and working outside the house and are having their own voice and a lot of men still do not like that. They want to dominate as always. When you look for a meaning in life, you want to love somebody, have a family and have your own children to love and care for and women sacrifice a lot in this. Marriage is not for selfish people whether they are male or female. Remember, in a divorce the kids are going to suffer along with the woman.

My goodness...who are these people that answered this question? I am 35 and not married. I have a good job, I had two men in my life that would have married me, but I am not getting married until I am absolutely sure it is all perfect enough for me. And if it never is...so what? I have great friends and family. And I can support myself. So, screw that. Marriage is important, but it's not the most important thing in the world.

Well it depends what you think of marriage. If you want to have a peceful life with a partner you can trust and have children and a family then marriage is must. However, if you want no children and just enjoy sex then you should not marry. As long as you are attractive any one would be happy to lay you down and screw you. But when the charm is lost and you are old then you will repent why you did not marry. No one will even look at you. Rather they will all shun you

Yes!

People die in road accidents,do we stop walking or driving...countless such examples

I agree completely that the divorce rate is higher, but if you look around in your circle it could have had to 10% of people, the others may have had an okay or good marriages.

We as humans tend to highlight the negations more in life...Unless you put up to the rain you will never reach your rainbow..right!!

I feel its better to face your destiny than switch...go with the flow!

Have a wonderful & blessed year ahead..Cheers

marriage is a recognisable identity in the society. every man and every woman needs it. it is a relation which guides each of them throgh out their life. it gives you a number of new relations and responsibilities. one should marry only when they are fully ready to take up a relation which is like for the rest of the life. they have to marry only when they find a person with whom they are sure they can spend their rest of the life, with whom they can share their deepest regrets and secrets and with whom they can be themselves.marriage is equally important for either a man or a woman

If it takes a contract to keep someone from leaving, I wouldn't want them there. After a long period of time together if it was important to get married I would be glad to. But it would be as a promise to always be there, not as a binding contract.
