How about "Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson?

It depends on the person and your relationship to them,

The Dance - Garth Brooks
When I Get Where I'm Going - Brad Paisley
What Hurts the Most - Rascal Flatts
There You'll Be - Faith Hill
Who You'd Be Today - Kenny Chesney
In This Life - Colin Raye
See You on the Other Side - George Strait
I'll Fly Away - Alison Kraus and Gillian Welch (from the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack)
One More Day - Diamond Rio
I Miss My Friend - Darryl Worley
Wish You Were Here - Mark Wills
Believe - Brooks and Dunn
A Picture of Me Without You - Lorrie Morgan
Bring on the Rain - Jo Dee Messina
Please Remember Me - Tim McGraw

Also, if you have access you might want to check out Brad Paisley's CD's. On each one he puts on a traditional gospel song, which would be very appropriate. I think the one from In Pictures is In the Garden, and very beautifully sung.

My brother in law just passed away and his funeral was the friday before Christmas. We played When you Get to where you'e goin, by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.

They also played Daddy's Hands which I have heard at several funerals, but don't really care for.

Garth Brooks, The Dance is a good one. I don't know that I've heard it, but I just read about George Strait's, I'll See You on the Other Side. If it's by George, it's got to be good.

Sorry, but maybee I'm ill informed here, but country music is all depressing, its about blind grannies, and car crashes and how good the old days were...

If you really wan't to be morbid - Mozart, Requim Mass...

However, why not have a bit of light hearted fun, At my mums funeral, after the sad Edith Piaf (no regrets), she had 'come on baby light my fire' played - it was a nice moment, everybody laughed with her one last time.

You should play something that reflects the person whose funeral it is?

isn't all country music depressing? I personally can't stand it, don't think its good....maybe try swinging a bit towards John Denver, he's good funeral music...if not then I'd go with the older ones, garth brooks, brooks and dunn, ummm Martina Mcbride or whatever the name is, you know, just search for Classic country songs or something on the internet I'm sure something awful will pop up

What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts

There was a funeral for this kid at my school not too long ago, and they played that song... depressing, but still good.

I'm not really the person to ask, but hey, 2pts. are still 2pts....when it's MY turn, I want to be brought into the church to Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" (the finale from his 9th Symphony)...and taken out at the end to the strains of "The Yakity Sax" (that would be the theme music to "The Benny Hill Show"). But that may not work for you.

Depressing music at a funeral? Probably not the best choice. Maybe you should consider something a bit inspirational and lifting =)

Happy new year!
