I think the lesson is that our talents are gifts and that we shouldn't abuse those gifts or believe that we are somehow "better" than other people because of thsoe gifts.
Too often, we see people who are fantastic singers, actors, or artists who behave badly and act as though they are above the law and above reproach simply because of their gifts. I think Arachne reminds us that when you use your gift as a weapon, you become less than human.
