Water! You need to drink a lot more water! I found out the hard way myself, I used to have terribly chapped lips that didn't want to heal but a friend told me to start drinking more water and now my lips are just fine
The humidifier will help. But try drinking more water.

I don't know if a humidifier will help, but here is what has worked for me.
1. STOP using chapstick--it actually makes it worse.
2. Clinique's "All About Lips" is AWESOME, but a little $$.
3. There is a product for cold sores by Campho-phenique called "Scab softeneer" that works wonders on my chapped lips--even when I don't have a cold sore. It's less $$.
I like the humidifier anyway--it makes breathing easier and gives great white noise.

yes it will help but you may also want to try to drink more fluids because you may be dehydrated and maybe a little Vaseline on you and your child lips

I think vaseline would work better, and maybe even drinking lots of water.
