I will make a long story short, yesterday I worked from 3:30pm until 9:15am the person that was supposed to come in at midnight called in sick and then the person that was supposed to come in at 7:30am was very late. Tonight I am working from 6pm until 8pm and making damn good money (double time holiday/overtime pay). Thats the background just a minute ago I ran into the store and the cashier who knows my situation said something about all the hours I am putting in. Then this young overweight black single mom with 3 kids says to me "I wouldn't have come back"
To which I replied "and that's why you will never be anything other than what you are now, it's not my fault one person is ill and the other had a flat tire, and I don't mind the money"
I guess the question is two fold was I wrong for telling her why she won't ever succeed in life and why don't people want to work anymore?

I agree with the sentement you shared with the woman, but I don't know if it was wise to actually speak it outloud... not politically correct :P
I agree that those who work with their minds as well as their hands will end up miles ahead of those who sit on their thumbs waiting for a handout. Nobody ever got anywhere sitting on their a--.
There is a community I once lived in for a short time (but wasn't really a part of).
..Most of this community got checks from the state- either because of one (I think bogus) disability or another, or their race.
..Most lived in trailers,.. I think there were maybe a dozen actual homes, stick-built, brick/mortar, on a foundation...
..Most are using, selling illegal drugs.
..I am saddened by what the US gov't has done to them out of guilt. Yes, I think it's some sappy politician's pseudo-guilt (or attempt to gain votes) that made policy to send these people a monthly check just because of their race... and ruined them as a people. I fear that they are no longer capable of integration.

Many people do want to work. I know quite a few people who work for $6.50 an hour (not illegals) doing hard, dirty work. They managed to get to work on time and often work for others who call in. Yes, there are deadbeats and always will be but there are people who still work for anything they get.
