Well, my best friend and I had been making New Years Eve plans for 3-4 weeks. Two days ago while she was working she told me she was going to a girl's house who she used to completely detest. She told me her reasoning was that she wanted to get out and "do" something tonight; but her and I had already had a lot of plans to hang out for the first time in a couple weeks. What do I say to her, and what do I do?

I know "best" is a relative word, but best friends don't ditch each other... Think of it this way: your friend was so preoccupied about making things right with the other girl that she's decided to act now that she has an opportunity ( it being the new year eve an all that ) forgetting or prioritizing her plans with you

The best you can do is trying to help those two get along ( or at least not making things harder for any of'em ) call your "best friend" and offer your help !

That is not a best friend. I would let her know that you two had made plans and you feel she is ditching you. I would at least ask for some honesty from her about why she changed her mind about her plans, you and this other girl. Try not to let it ruin your evening and make some other plans of your own even if it is just doing something you enjoy. I know its tough. She is the one that is wrong, let her worry about it. Sounds like she is risking a good friendship.

Give her some space. Do you have other friends? Hang out with them. Get your hair did, put on your blue suede shoes and go out. Don't give her a second thought. And the next time she calls you to do something, tell her you're busy.

You are important, and no one should treat you like that. Be the best person you can be and don't let the turkeys get you down.

You call her and ask her why did she do that to you. Tell her exactly how you feel. If she brushes you off, then you know where your relationship stands with her.
