All this stems from prehistoric times when humans were still tribal. They ostracized anyone who was different, and humans still have that programmed into their genes, It's an explanation, not an excuse. Mistreatment of a person because that person is different is never right.
I have to say, when a controversial subject comes up, and people are against it because of a religious reason, I automatically dismiss their concerns. When disagreements arise because of religious reasons, it's people being deliberately ignorant. Take the situation with the FDA saying that cloned meat is OK. Many people (not all) have objections because of religious reasons. Those people are simply fools who adhere to their religion because it's easier than actually thinking things out for themselves.
Remember this: if someone believes the Bible is true, it's because they have faith in it. Faith, by definition, is belief in the absence of proof, so if someone uses the Bible to prove something, they are violating their faith in it. But, that's a line of reasoning, and people of faith have never held much stock in logic and reason. And, for those people who will label me an atheist, I'm not an atheist. I'm Pagan (a system of spirituality, not religion). But then, those people will simply wave their Bible at me and call me a devil worshiper.

>>>Someone give me a *real* answer. Don't say because God/The Bible say its wrong>>>
Basing an objection to homosexual behavior on the Bible IS a "real answer." It's not an "unreal" answer just because you don't agree with it.
>>>or because you think its disgusting or something else that has no thought proccess behind it.>>>
It's not lacking in thought process simply because you disagree with it.
>>>Give me a real answer. I'm pretty sure you wont be able to, because it all comes down to fear and hatred of the unknown.<<<
No, it doesn't -- and throwing around accusations of "fear" and "hatred" is a bogus tactic, because it's designed to squelch debate and silence those who disagree with you. (How's that for a "thought process"?)
It comes down to the fact that our bodies are simply not designed for homosexual sex.
That's why -- follow my "thought process" here! -- roughly half of us are male, and roughly half of us are female. Clear enough for you?
It also comes down to the fact that the average American gay man only lives to be 41 years old.
Even people in disease-ravaged and starvation-hit African countries live longer than that.
And that's not becase of discrimination, either. Society is much more accepting of homosexuality that it ever has been -- and yet gay men actually live shorter lives than they did 30 or 40 years ago.
So, there's nothing regarding "fear" or "hatred" there. These are the facts of the matter, and denying them doesn't make them any less true.

several of the answers here need to be addressed. First the bible does not condemn gay people. The bible has the following laws: These are the same scriptures that conveniently condemn homosexulaity.
You may eat any animal that has divided hoofs and chews the cud. And you must not eat pigs--they have divided hoofs, but don't chew the cud. All of these animals are unclean, and you are forbidden even to touch their dead bodies. Given that I guess most people would not pass that test. We all eat beef or pork, don't we? When did this law from the bible become ok to break?
Breed your livestock animals only with animals of the same kind, and don't plant two kinds of seed in the same field or wear clothes made of different kinds of material. So if I have a farm and plant 2 crops I am sinning? If I wear clothes made from cotton and wool I am breaking the law of God?
If you curse your father or mother, you will be put to death, and it will be your own fault. I wonder how many we can put to death today and still be in conformity to God's laws?
If any of you men have sex with another man's wife, both you and the woman will be put to death. Looks like a bunch of str8 guys and their mistresses are on the condemned list as well
Don't make yourself unclean by attending the funeral of someone related to you by marriage Is this a law we can obey today?
No matter where you live, you must rest on the Sabbath and come together for worship. This law will never change. Notice it says the law will never change, so looks like anyone working on Sunday doesn't make the cut either.
If you want slaves, buy them from other nations 45or from the foreigners who live in your own country, and make them your property. You can own them, and even leave them to your children when you die, but do not make slaves of your own people or be cruel to them. Does this mean I can own any illegal Mexicans I can find?
based on those scriptures it looks like there are very few people who could be perfect and not have sin, therefore they can cast the first stone.
C'mon folks. Take the bible out of context and it can say anything you want. I prefer this scripture which shows God's love and compassion:
Romans 12
3I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are. Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you. 4A body is made up of many parts, and each of them has its own use. 5That's how it is with us. There are many of us, but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another.
6God has also given each of us different gifts to use. If we can prophesy, we should do it according to the amount of faith we have. 7If we can serve others, we should serve. If we can teach, we should teach. 8If we can encourage others, we should encourage them. If we can give, we should be generous. If we are leaders, we should do our best. If we are good to others, we should do it cheerfully.
That is how God wants us to be. I tell you truly, we need to be compassionate and respect others no matter what our differences.
Second point that needs to be addressed. The LGBT community in no way what so ever condones the NAMBLA group. This group is not associated with the vast majority of the LGBT community and any reference that we support them is a lie and needs to be exposed as such.

I have to say for my self, i am straight but i have no problem with what ever someone else wants. I mean think about it. Why should someone label it "bad." That's not fair. With all the divorce we have these days well we might as well let people marry who ever they want, be happy, and stay married or happy what ever they won't. No one has the right to say anything about it being wrong, if it makes you happy say fu*k you to all that have something to say. At least your happy, that's what counts

Well you just answered your own question. Fear of the unknown. But also, it IS because the Bible says it's wrong. That does have thought process behind it. I don't know where you're from but here, in America, everything is pushed by Christianity. People blindly follow it. And they're scared of things being different. Of people breaking the "rules." It's not "safe."

It's funny, many of the answers you got were precisely the ones that you said you didn't want(not to mention people like Julia spreading the DEBUNKED lies presented by the discredited Paul Cameron).
They keep insisting the Bible having some form of relevance when it has relevance only to it's believers(I'd love to see those same people react if they were forced to live by Islamic Standards against their will. It's the exact same circumstance.)
Not one actual argument against homosexuality with any merit in the entire bunch and that includes the lie the other guy was spreading about gays defending Nambla.

People don't like what they don't get. There's absolutly no real reason to be judgmental about it. People go "OMG WEIRDO U LIEK GUYZ UR A GUY UR WEIRD!11" when really it can be considered weird to, for example, dance at clubs in front of people, or get married in the first place. It's not anyone's fault, it's a mental thing. Most people don't say that it's someone's fault that they're mentally retarded. It really pisses me off.

I think you are right. I think it fear, perhaps fear about themselves. Also, homosexuality is an easy thing for people to point fingers at, so they don't have to take a closer look at things that are not right in their own lives. It's a shame, because it seems like really mean actions are condoned more than loving a person of the same sex.

people think that it is not right, they treat gays like they were a different species, but i don't have anything against it though, i mean it does not matter what a person thinks. i dont believe being gay sends you to hell. i mean come on. Only good folks go to heaven as long as they have a good heart, they are fine by me

No, actually the Bible does really truly prohibit homosexuality. It has nothing to do with fear of the unknown. I have a coworker whose gay and he's a fine person to be around. I've had gay friends and peers. I understand it quite well: a man is sexually attracted to a man or a woman to a woman and they engage in sexual activity. Nothing too tough to understand there!
It's a sin whether people undestand it or not.
