Hello,

Your baby is more than likely biting because he/she is teething. My twins bite too and I have to give them something, anything to chew on to ease the pain.

Try giving your baby a frozen rag, then placed under cold water, rag to chew on. The cold and a bit freezing of the rag babies like. I do this with my twins.

Hope this helps you............. : - O

He's 8 months and will not understand if you punish him. Firmly tell him no and change the situation. Biting back is horrible! He's 8 months old! He doesn't grasp the consequence idea yet! Plus you'd only be reinforcing the habit. He can't bite but you can? He'll outgrow it. Read Babycenter.com they have tons of info about this!

It's just a phase, they outgrow it. But in the meantime, say "no, don't bite, that hurts" in a stern voice whenever he/she does it.

Do Not hold his nose closed like motherhen... suggested. That is awful and harmful - that's child abuse, you should never do anything to intentionally harm your child & definantly nothing to make it so he/she can't breathe - even if it is only for a few seconds.

An adult biting an infant is basically child abuse. I suggest you find other measures such as removing the child from the setting. Could the child be teething? If so get him something to teeth on.

give him plenty of other things to chew on to exercise those new chompers!!
frozen waffles (still frozen, don't cook them)
frozen washclothes, (get them a little damp b4 you freeze them)
teething biscuits
teething rings
cheerios
take a Mans white hankerchief, dice up some peaches or apples and tie them up in the hankerchief, let him chew and suck on it.
(You can freeze this too. The cold helps tender gums)
Anytime he bites you or anyone else, tell him VERY FIRMLY NO and give him one of these substitutes.

if he/she is biting other children bite him back. not hard of course but just enough to bring a tear to his eye. once he knows that it hurts he won't do it anymore. babies tend to do things like that because they don't know that it hurts the other person. if you hurt him by doing the same thing he will stop. it may take him a while to get the hint but it only takes one bite for him to know not to do it anymore.

I think you should let him bite you, then scream your head off, and tell him it hurts, then if he does it again bite him back

bite him back - he will never understand why he's told not to do it until you show him exactly why it's bad...
