How do I become a better singer on my own? You know, by myself, at home. If you did this, tell me every detail. How'd it go?Was it easy? Difficult? Embarrassing? Anything. Also, I don't want the word "practice" to be the only word in your answer please. Sure you can use it of course. I know I have to practice. Any tips though?

that depends on how you want to sing. (opera, rock, country, whatever). What works for me and thousands of other singers is standing with your feet shoulder width apart, standing straight -NEVER SLOUCH-, and using your diaphragm to sing. Think of your entire torso as a canister. Fill the whole thing up with air, but don't breath with your chest. I know this sounds dorky and hippy, but I'm not even kidding it works like a charm. You get full, pure, non-breathy sound. It's amazing. Keep your knees flexible, never lock them. Don't let your throat or jaw get tense. That will make you sound like your constipated or a pop singer.-I'm incredibly sorry if that's what you want to sing-. Keep expression on your face but don't over do it. That will make you press and then again with the poppiness. And yes, the P word- practice this. If you slouch when you practice and suck, that's what you're going to sound like when you have to do it for real. Within about a month, maybe a little more, if you do it right, you wont even have to think about it. Good luck!

aside from practice,
push from your diaphragm, not so much from the throat.
that will allow you to be able to hit those high notes longer, and higher. not to mention the amount of control you will have over it in general.

sing into a tape, so you can play it back and see where you would like to make improvements, diaphram is important, but on key is important too, loud is not good if its off key.
