I work in Social Services and when we see this age span, we are mandated to report it. It is not so much the dating, but the sexual nature of their relationship that would be illegal.
I would be worried.
If her parents know the age dif and are fine with it, will they be if she becomes pregnant or got a std? and espeically if he left her if that were to happen?
He could go to jail for statutory rape dependant upon what authorities found out, and/or how her parents handle the situation.

I'm from Wisconsin and personally think "age of consent" is a load of crap. Perhaps discourage him from dating her, but do not report them. You will ***** up his chances for the rest of his life. Ask him why he doesn't think he can find someone more mature. A 16-year-old is almost guaranteed to not know what she wants or what she's doing with her life. He'll figure it out. I sure did after dating a total loser for a whole year at age 18.
So, it is illegal *if* they are having sex (as it's illegal everywhere else in the U.S.). If they aren't having sex, it's perfectly legal. If you let them be, they won't get into trouble. I strongly recommend letting them be. They're at two unsure and depressed ages when they're feeling alienated from the world and have a need to cling to someone. Make sure they're using birth control, and make it clear that you're *not* going to be there if she ends up pregnant. They must be responsible if they think they can be together.
I think the government should learn to let people alone in their own bedrooms. Ridiculous.
A good book to read on age of consent (and that you might suggest to your boyfriend's son) is "Harmful to Minors" by Judith Levine.
P.S. If the kid's 20, I wouldn't feel bad about his moving out of the house.

I want to know what law says that a girl under 18 has to date a boy who is also under 18. Is that what you are suggesting? Or are you suggesting that the 16 y/o girl is not old enough to date? Or maybe you just like to dictate morality to other people? I fail to see a problem with what you call an "issue". Whats the issue?

The 20 year old is at least committing child endangerment and enticing a minor, and at worst committing statutory rape.
He needs to back away from that relationship five minutes ago.
By the way, you are aware of an ongoing crime. I'd recommend that you act on your knowledge immediately.

DONT DO IT! He could go to jail. Most important dont sneek off together. It will make the leagal aspect worst when u and he are caught together. IF u are serious about him, talk to your parents. BE gentle and for GODS SAKE dont throw a temper tantrum when they freak out, it will only prove them right. Wait it out be patient and see what happens.
Again he is a man and you are still a young lady... dont do anything stupid

Yes, way illegal. The age of consent in WI is 18. If he doesn't want to end up a felon, he'll leave her alone.

It might be sad that I know this, but a lot of (non-guarenteed) information on this subject can be found at a site called http://www.avert.org/aofconsent.htm. It will have information on all states and most countries.
