When I open the door smoke comes out and fills the house with smoke. The previous woodstove I had did not do this nearly as bad. I am wondering if this is a design flaw with this brand of woodstoves? Anybody have a blazeking?

I know I dont have birdsnest because I was up on the roof to put a different type of cap; I thought it was the cap causing the problems. As well when the door is closed and you go outside and look at the cap it looks like a normal chimney with smoke pouring out. I know the stove opening is clear with the vent being open and no other blockages.

I could sit here and give number after number of reasons. Your chimney may not by the right diameter. It might not be the right height about the highest point of the house. You have a negative in the house, crack a window, your not getting enough ventilation. Do you have a manual damper or automatic damper on the chimney.? Put a manual on. When you open the stove door the fire should "take off" since it isn't it's definitely the draft and I think it's because it's not the right height.

Did you check the flue you might have a hatch in it to keep things from living in it and it might still be closed I personally don't have one but had similar problems with a chimney on a friends house then found out the hatch on their chimney was shut. Just a suggestion.

Sounds like the pressure in your house is lower than the pressure outside. As a test, open all doors or windows in the house to allow the inside and outside pressures to equalize. With the home still open to the outside observe the venting now. If it is venting properly, the conditions outside versus inside are in conflict. Try keeping a couple windows slightly cracked open to keep equalized.

I would try adjusting the flue again.
Also, try burning some paper to ensure you have a "good draw" going into the flue.

If you are really having issues -- make sure the flue is not clogged (may require getting on the roof to ensure no birds nest in the top!

when is the last time you had the chimney cleaned? it should be done every year before your season begins. that would be my first guess, sooted up chimney. is the flue damper not open all the way? but that's about it. good luck.

Be sure that your vent on your stove is open so air can get in.

Is the flue opened, or is it blocked?
