It was alright. Not something I would watch too many times, though.

It's about this baby, Buddy, who crawls into Santa's toy bag one year and gets brought to the North Pole, and is raised by Elves, thinking he too, is an Elf.

He finally finds out, when he's grown, that he's not an elf, but a human! Santa tells him about how his mom put him up for adopting or something when she was a teenager, and his dad never knew about Buddy. Santa gives Buddy a picture of his mom and dad and tells Buddy to go to New York City [which is where his dad lives.]

The movie follows Buddy as he gets a job as 'Santa's' helper at a big store, and how he is kicked out of his job, and him finding his dad, his stepmom, and his little brother. It talks about the 'true meaning' of Christmas and familytime, because the dad is a workaholic.

It's a cute movie, good for both kids and adults (both potty joke humor and innuendos) it's a bit cheesy and cutesy, but all in all, it was alright.

I personally find Elf to be one of the best holiday movies out there. I keep it in active rotation through the month of December along with A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life (among others).

It's extremely silly and shmaltzy, and it's got so many great belly laughs that makes it perfect for everyone. It's the perfect medicine for anyone lacking "the Christmas spirit."

Like all movie recommendations, it's definitely about taste. But if you've got an inner child and you're wanting to let it loose, then pick this gem up.

Elf is a new Christmas classic as far as movies are concerned....you will not stop laughing the entire movie through and the adult humor is perfectly disguised as innocence...perfect for kids and adults! The movie theater was packed with kids but I was very surprised at how well it was done for adults as well. If you love Will Ferrell you will love this movie!!

I compare Elf to... hmmm... Napoleon Dynamite.. really stupid the first time you see it (and a little funny) but then it gets funnier each time you see it...

Basically.. it is about a human baby that is raised at the North Pole until they have to send him away (he's way too big for most doors) and they send him to live with his father in the "normal" world... just before Christmas... lots of gags and stupid stunts and comical situations.
