I've had mine for about 9 years and it's not as fluffy as it used to....is it due to age? or perhaps I should spend $40 and take it to the dry cleaners??? also, what's a good brand to buy? thanks for your advice.

They need to be replaced when they no longer hold enough down to effectively keep you warm. I wash mine (jackets and vests also) once or twice a year in the washing machine with a baby clothes detergent and dry it in the dryer on low heat with a pair of old clean tennis shoes I keep for that purpose. When ever it starts going flat I take it out of the duvet (washed as needed) and put it in the dryer on air only with the tennis shoes to fluff it.

Well if you have had it 9 years, without it being cleaned, I would say getting it cleaned is a good place to start.

Mine is about that age, but I have not used it yet this year, it is still too warm, but I always have a cover on it which I think helps greatly.

omg...don't stick it in the washer as advised by another....I like to stick my blankets that can't be washed in the dryer on fluff every month or so....takes some of the dusty out and does fluff them up....stretches out the time between needing to be dry cleaned i think

We just got a front loader washer and dryer--OMIGOSH!

My point being----take yours to a laundrymat (or friend's house) and put it in the dryer on air dry. It is unreal at the magic a frontloader does to your clothes!

Take it to the laundermat and wash it in a large washer and dry it.. If there are no holes in it it will wash well. Washing should fluff it up.
