#1 brake stuff mucking up
#2 axle berrings
#3 diffrential pinion and ring gear berrings and gears
#3 part b gear clash caused by worn or missaligned pinion and ring gears
4# tires
do you have aggresive tires like off road mudslinging dirt bike tires
have you been in any big pot holes lately
you might have damaged the axle berrings
thats the two easy fixes
now trust ole bilzer here stop saying shocks to yourself, unless they are busted in two
or you grab them and it sounds like a baby rattle
the 50 mph zone tells me tires, berrings or rear end ring and pinion
can you saftely lift the car off the ground with a floor jack?
can you saftely grab each wheel and feel for a weird groweling feeling
yes you got a berring problem out borard of the
rear end at the axle berrings
no and your in pumkinhead ville and should find a real rench to double check your work and advise you who should replace or realign the rear end pumkin
do this sooner than later
it might only need an ajustment

The only two most common possibilities are either the tires or the wheel bearings. If you are hearing a "roar" when you get to highway speeds, its most likely your wheel bearings. Tires can also make a noise if they have not been balanced and rotated properly, if this is not done properly, tires can become what tire dealers call "scalloped" That is where the tire treads become feathered or has uneven wear.

My #1 vote is for unevenly worn rear tires. Run your hand along the tread. If its wavy or uneven, there's your noise.
If it was a wheel bearing I would expect it to make noise well below 50 mph.

Really need more information, like what does it sound like? Probably not the shocks, could be the tires. I certainly would check the rear wheel bearings, though.

More than likely it's tires. Look at the tread, are they cupped, is the tread crooked, as in a slipped belt. Best to go to a tire dealer and have them checked, they could be dangerous. Safety first!

Check your tires first. If they look OK, then I would say you probably have a bad wheel bearing. Good luck.
