I was accepted for Gradschool, and starting my Masters in Information Technology on Jan 8, and im a bit worried. I found out that I have to maintain a 3.0 GPA every semester and an overall GPA of 3.5 to stick in the program. Im taking 8 credits, this semester thats two courses. I generally do well on IT courses, but still im worried at the high standards. Undergrad was shitty, i did OK but I could have done better. So my question, what should I expect on the grad program? is this a back breaking study times? Its odd really, Undergrad was real easy for me, i mean I felt like i didnt really do much to get a good grade.

At the graduate level, you need to show up for class and keep up with the assigned work. Expect to spend as much time preparing for two classes as you spent on 4 classes at the undergrad level. Remember, grad school classes are about assignments rather than tests, so you have to be prepared for every class, not for the tests. As long as you do what they tell you to do and you're prepared, you will do well.

Since a C is a failing grade at this level, in a lot of ways it is easier to get an A at this level than at the undergrad level. I went to grad school nearly 15 yrs after I got my B.S. - and I wasn't a very good student then. I just graduated with honors. You can do this! Just stay focused, communicate with your profs, and remember that this will be a pain but its only 2 yrs out of your life, with the payoff of a good job at the end. I got one (and my degree is in History, not generally a field with great prospects) and you will too. Good Luck!

Graduate School is tough. It's work. It may seem easy (or at least as easy as Undergrad) because you already know what to expect to a certain degree. But Grad school is up a level and the Professors expect more out of you - more details and finesse - strong work. I mean a Masters needs to mean that you have achieved something, right? Or else why bother?

That being said....

It's totally "do-able". You just have to set your mind to it. Since you were accepted, the Univ. obviously thinks you have what it takes, now just show them they were right. You'll be glad you did when you're holding that degree and able to earn more $$.

Good Luck!

I have taken several Master's level classes and they were no more difficult than the undergrad classes.

I have never officially enrolled in the Grad program, however, from what I have heard from others that have, it is actually easier than the undergrad progams.

You will do fine.

They expect you to be motivated already, and actually WANT to accomplish something. If you're there to just delay entering the work force, you're in a world of hurt.
Undergrad time is for partying and socializing. If you're not prepared to put nose to grind stone, maybe it would be better to not waste the tuition money.

It will be ok, as long as you are not working a full time job. I was and had to drop out b/c I had no life whatsoever. I would recommend doing it while you are not working.

Graduate school is tough. It will take a lot more studying and research. Buckle down, and do it. It will be well worth it.

You should work as hard as you can. It's not easy but it's not impossible.
