I completely understand what your talking about... I was prescribed Flonase while I was pregnant and I actually took it before too and it works wonders - you just have to remember to take it everyday even when you start to feel better.. Until you can get a Rx for that you might want to try a sinus spray like afrin (it's quite addictive so be careful) or Vicks has one out.. But I'm not sure if you should take them- depending on how far along you are. I am so sorry I know how miserable you are, I'm actually having that problem right now and I'm using the Vicks nasal spray - but I'm not pregnant.
Be careful if your going to use a nasal spray like afrin - it helps you in the moment but makes it worse over time. Good luck and I hope this helps!!

I had a really badly blocked nose last summer, due to hayfever, when I was pregnant with my son.
You can try inhaling steam. Fill a bowl with boiling water, put a towel over your head and breathe in the steam for a few minutes. Its "supposed" to clear your nose although I just found it made me feel worse.
The only thing that worked for me was a nasal spray called Flixonase which my doctor prescribed me. But as you say, you'll have to wait a day or two to see the doctor.
Menthol sweets like Hall Eucalyptus should be OK. My Consultant also said it was OK to use Vicks Sinex.

Avoid taking any tablets at all during pregnancy unless your doctor prescribes them. You can try saline nasal drops failing that good old fashioned steam inhalation should do the trick. You can get steam vapourisers that you leave in your room at bedtime. They are great for blocked noses, coughs and colds. Worth investing in one for the future. I use mine in my twins room when they get colds and its better than any medicine I give them. Good luck with your pregnancy, try to relax and enjoy. Remember you don't always need to see your doctor with minor medical ailments. Pharmacists at your local chemist are qualified professionals and can advise you on the safe use of medicines when pregnant or breast feeding. They will refer you to the doctor if they think your condition is serious and needs more than over the counter medicines.

You probably have a fair idea what caused the pregnancy - but the blocked and runny nose might be a bit more difficult to work out !

Use a vaporizer (Not New Year here until midnight...it's not midnight here yet BTW), A saline nasal spray will help as well as breath right strips. Or you might try the Nasal Saline Recipe I've linked to below

You need to address this question to your doctor. Even though there are smart people here with lots of experience, prenatal care is individual, and only your doctor can help you choose what's best for you and your baby.

If I could get pregnant I wouldn't take any chemicals and would try and eat organic food if I could afford it. Or at least organic milk.
