We had a power cut at quarter to midnight and saw in the new year sitting in the dark with candles. We couldn't go out to a party as we have a four week old baby.

New Year's Eve seems to be Amateur Night.
People trying to show others how much they can drink, and GOD help us all of they get behind a wheel to prove they're not drunk.
Perhaps I just like watching it on tv, and crowds don't really appeal any more. I remember once going to the Paris Airshow, and the crowds were pushing the cyclone fence down, and yes I was in that crowd and had no way out. I felt as if they were going to crush me, and my husband was 6'3, 225 lbs. and stopped them from smashing me againsst the fence that could not hold that crowd.
Somehow after that, I exit when the crowd mentality takes over. I go totally the other way.
I look at New Year as a way to make a new start, try to open my mind a little better, and try again to be nice to myself. If I'm nicer to me, then it will pass on to others.
GOD bless us one and all, always.

Worst New Years I've had in a long time
death in the immediate family within the past month had put the family on edge, with arguements, crying jags, tension
already hoping for a better 2007 New Years Eve

New Year's eve is over-hyped. Never expect anything from it - why should we - its really just another day. The only difference is that we are all expected to do something exciting and fun to see in the new year - what a load of tosh! Next year I am going to stay in and have some down time all to myself! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Just another day to me...always has been. I think that it's more a holiday for people who live in large metro areas...most country folks don't even think about it much.
