Our vet only charges around $35 for a routine office visit. It may be even less for a small pet. If you are concerned about your hamster, then it's the only choice.

Nah, don't worry bout the vet bill, they are not much hmm maybe 20-40$ 50 at most, soo not much to worry about, if he is itching alot, he needs to see and vet because it is probably mites, what you can do is call the vet, and get an estimate on how much a vistit and a treatment for mites would be, and then after you find that out, go from there
I hope this helps =]

And with the bedding, I promise you I am correct for I have looked at sooo many site and found out you always either used carefresh or aspen, please please please never ever use pine or cedar if you have a dwarf, it causes respitory problems for the poor hammy, carefresh is the number one litter to use for your hamster
I hope you take my advice, and I saure hope that it helps you =]

Call the vet though none will be open today or tomorrow. Check the internet site on the care of hamsters. Try www.cah.com/dr_library/hamster.html they seem to have some answers there.

perhaps u arent caring for them properly? take him to the vet (if your hampster is itching, then if nothing else your vet will give him somethng for the itching) is that a waste of money? no. you're not paying the vet to find something wrong with ur hammy, you're paying him to give your hammy a clean bill of health. and so that u can go home knowing he's happy and healthy.
your hamster might be in pain. part of the responsibility of having a pet is to put its welfare first.
keep him happy and feel proud of it.

Your dog was on your property, it was the neighbor that didn't have proper control of her dog. I personally would feel just awful that my dog harmed another animal but they are just doing what dogs do- they are protective of their home and people and no matter what, they are animals. I would be reasonable because I love dogs and also want to keep good relations , so I'd offer to pay half. If she doesn't like that option, you are Not obligated to provide further. She can take you to small claims court but she would not win.

Look into his ears for mites and look through his hair for little bugs. Maybe if you use a soap on him then I would stop using it to clean him. It is possible that your hampster has an allergic reaction to its food or something around its cage. If you have recently added anything to his food or his environment I would remove it. I know it can be costly to take them to a vet but if it goes on too long you will probably have to take him to the vet.

First of all, what bedding do you use? Use aspen. Or newspaper, or toss in lots of toilet paper/paper towels and let them shred it up. NO CIDER! Make sure your bedding isn't dusty.

Head to your pet store and buy some "hamster/ferret" bath. It's made out of volcanic rock or something. It's a dry bath, you put it in a dish and the hamster can roll around in it and clean its hair.

Try that and see if it helps. Mine used to itch because of poor bedding. Aspen! Good! Aspen good!

I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THE FIRST PERSON DO NOT USE ASPEN OR CEDAR FOR BEDDING ALWAYS USE PINE BEDDING. THIS CAN CAUSE RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS IF YOU DON'T THIS MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. TRY TO ELIMINATE THE SMALL PROBLEMS BEFORE GOING TO THE VET. THEY CAN BE EXPENSIVE AND THEY DON'T CARE THAT IT'S A HAMSTER AND NOT A DOG IT STILL COSTS THE SAME. IF YOU JUST GOT HIM HE COULD JUST BE ADAPTING TO HIS NEW HOME.
