If it's your friends who are insulting you, try to laugh it off if you can tell that they're making a joke. But, if they insult you TOO much, or if they aren't joking, pull them aside and tell them that it's not funny what they're saying. And take it from someone who takes things too personally sometimes: try not to take offense to everything.

I have a 16 year old girl and I have had to pull my child out of school 3 years ago because of this. The best way I tried to teach my child is if a person is hurting you for a reason they must be hurting more than you. This is true.It is not normal for people to hurt another just for fun.A lot of children don't even realize they are doing this, due to problems at home maybe.
I had my child start a diary, everyday she has to right in it,she also has to keep a diary of everything she did good that day, that way when she is down and out(almost everyday)she can look back on what SHE wrote not nobody else.also take a plastic bat and beat on a tree or something hard(do not hurt no one please) have you talked to your parents.I will pray that you will find a way to get through the hard times.

Ignore them. Someone who is insulting you is actually trying to get a reaction from you. If you cry, insult them back or try to fight them, they've won no matter what. They're basically trying to bother or hurt you and the WORST thing that you can do to them is ignore them. This says "I don't care at all about you or what you think of me."
Don't just ignore the insult; try to cut the person out of you life completely. It's possible, no matter who they are.

The best way is to ignore them, but, sometimes you just can't. Some people go to far. If you are always getting picked on about the same thing, think of a witty response for it. That might just shut them up.

Most of the time it is best to ignore them, but at times it's hard.
I've gained alot weight over the last few years.
Well I went to this functions a few weeks ago and a much older lady than myself mentioned my weight gain in front of a few other women. Well, I felt that this was extremely rude of her (she is a woman of means in this small community) I know that I should've not said this but I agreed with her, and offered her a ride to the local mall to visit an
Estee Lauder counter for some winkle cream....shame on me.....

Shake them off. If there's any truth to the insult take it to heart.
For instance, if someone says, "You're so vain, you ugly piece of poo". Take a look at yourself and she if you've come across as vain. If so correct that character flaw, if not, just chaulk it up to him being a miserable person himself and it makes him feel better to bring someone else down.

Ignore them! People who insult you are usually jealous of you anyway. Been there done that. When you ignore them they figure its not bothering you and they stop.

Best way? Pray for the people.
Next way? Ignore the people.
Another way? Avoid the people.
Last way? Laugh at the people - drives them bonkers.

Witty comment? A comeback? I usually ignore people like that though or tell them to grow up.
