I can print, but the document comes out without any lower case L's or upper i's. They are there during the print preview but just don't show up on the printed page. For example allow is printed
a ow. and Isn't is printed sn't. Any ideas??? Also horizontal lines don't come out like on a form, the blanks like this __________.
I have to get this working by the time the next semester starts!
Oh and I have tried HP support. I still have not gotten an answer from two e-mails and the live chat shuts my browser down!

Try printing from notepad to rule out any problems with the current word processing software.

Try disconnecting the printer from the wall and from the back of the computer for about a minute. Reconnect everything.

If that does not work try the cleaning function of your printer.

If that fails try deleting the printer from the Control Panel | Printers applet and than let Windows redetect the printer.

If that fails you may need to get the printer serviced.

Hi, this really doesnt sound like any common printer issue... which model of printer do you have?

If yours is an inkjet printer, the only thing I can think of is that some of the nozzles are clogged. And they just happened to be the ones firing the vertical l's, etc. But this is extremely unlikely.

Some things you can try:
a) Clean the nozzles by using the printer toolbox utility. This may hopefully clean up those nozzles that are firing the parts of the words you want.

b) A different word processing software (use powerpoint or word or wordpad)... anything different from whatever you are using now.

Post back here with your printer model and we can try help you figure out what could possibly be the problem.

Sounds like you've got a partially clogged print head or print nozzle. Try this: Remove the ink cartridge and use a damp Q-Tip to wipe any dry ink from the nozzle. Under NO circumstances use alcohol to clean the nozzle (that's a common mistake) and will make the problem worse.

Very stange. I don't really know what you could do with that. I would uninstall the printer and reinstall it. Somehow the software got messed up so reinstalling the printer should hopefully fix the problem. Good luck.
