You need to read more on dual booting. Make sure you install windows first but leave enough of the partition for your Linux partitions.

More details are needed. Did you use a server distro that didn't install xwindows? I don't know how to install Xwindows from scratch, but I could walk you through it on a Debian based distro.

if you didn't create another partition, you will have to reinstall windows and Linux too, before install them, you have to create another partition, you can do this with Fdisk, you can download it form here http://www.shareup.com/Super_Fdisk-download-18631.html
after you download it, burn it into a CD (this CD works when you reboot the PC)
I recommend to you, install first windows an then Linux,
if you install Linux first, install it on the partition that you created.
Maybe you will have to create a third partition for Linux swap, this partition can be smaller than 1GB.
