I get craps very bad and I dont like taking medications either if i can help it. As hard as it is and as much as you dont want to do it, stretch out. Curling up into a ball seems to hurt me more. When laying down I stretch out and excercise as much as possible. Nothing hard, just walking or some little cardio. Stay away from Yoga, it actually isnt good to do yoga while your menstruating.
Heating pads do also do the trick for me once in a while. Drinking tea could help, but for me that is mostly a mental thing. Drinking it makes me think 'hmm its warming me up and making me feel better." So i dont know if tea really does anything or if its all in my mind.

I would talk to your mom & see what she did & if she has the same problem.
In the mean time: I would use a hot pad, & it's
good to do some kind of activity like yoga, swimming or running. Stay well hydrated, drink lots of water.
Rubbing your stomach helps too.
Making dietary adjustments starting about 14 days before a period may help some women with certain mild menstrual disorders, such as cramping. The general guidelines for a healthy diet apply to everyone; they include eating plenty of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding saturated fats and commercial junk foods.
Low-Fat, High-Fish Diets. If you eat foods with a higher intake of omega 3 fatty acids (fat compounds found in oily fish, such as salmon and tuna) which lessen menstrual pain. Also, supplements of fish oil appeared to reduce heavy bleeding in adolescent girls.
Salt Restriction. Limiting salt may help minimize bloating.
Reducing Caffeine & Sugar. Reducing caffeine (in soda) & sugar intake may be beneficial.
Hope this helps. :)

Microwave a damp washcloth and lay it over the area you have cramps (only 30 seconds at a time in micro to be sure not too hot). The moist heat penetrates better to help relax your "girl parts" and relieves the pain after only 1 or 2 applications.

Exercise always helps cramps so keep active. (It also may shorten your period.) Also, if you drink a little caffeine it helps.
