I would talk to your doc. & ask him why he doesn't want you to take anything.
I don't think you should be in pain. I would talk to your mom & see what she did & if she has the same problem. I would take some Ibuprofen (Motrin, Midol).
In the mean time: I would use a hot pad, & it's
good to do some kind of activity like yoga, swimming or running. Stay well hydrated, drink lots of water.

Making dietary adjustments starting about 14 days before a period may help some women with certain mild menstrual disorders, such as cramping. The general guidelines for a healthy diet apply to everyone; they include eating plenty of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding saturated fats and commercial junk foods.

Low-Fat, High-Fish Diets. If you eat foods with a higher intake of omega 3 fatty acids (fat compounds found in oily fish, such as salmon and tuna) which lessen menstrual pain. Also, supplements of fish oil appeared to reduce heavy bleeding in adolescent girls.

Salt Restriction. Limiting salt may help minimize bloating.
Reducing Caffeine & Sugar. Reducing caffeine (in soda) & sugar intake may be beneficial.

Hope this helps. :)

Did your doctor give a specific reason why you should suffer in pain for the duration of your period? I don't think there is one. I have the same problem. I can take the maximum dosage of Excedrin Migraine and still have pain. I usually end up taking Midol Extended Relief and laying on a heating pad. Some sources say that taking birth control will help with period problems. After a year and a half of pain, I am going to see a new gynecologist.

Is this the first time you have hurt this badly? If not, perhaps you can lay on a heating pad for awhile, and rest. Take ibuprofen instead of acetaminophen for the pain. If this is the first time the pain has been this bad, there's the possibility you could have cysts that are problematic. Ask your doctor next time you go, and document tonight on your calendar. Keep record of your pain level and the times so you can give it to the doc when you go. good luck! Hope you feel better!!

I found that none of the over the counter pills worked. I'd pop them like candy and the pain, cramps and vomiting would persist. My doctor prescribes Anaprox and I find that it helps tremendously. You should look into it. Also a hot water bottle is also a great help. It is very soothing. Another thing you can try is ginger tea. Ginger helps settle the stomach. I would suggest getting talking to your doc about Anaprox. It makes a world of a difference. I hope this helps. Ask your doc for this prescription.

I used to get really bad pain and one doc told me that some women have uterine contractions equiv to early labor. If so, regular pain killers won't work. Your doc may have to give you something stronger, like a muscle relaxant. If your doc is brushing you off like that, get another doctor!! The doc is your employee and has no right to dismiuss you like that! If it's man, try a woman doctor.

Cramping is one of the main symptoms of having a period. It is natural so you really can't take anything to decrease the pain.Just try to lie down and rest next time you feel a surge of pain. It will eventually go away.Just be patience.

When I'm cramping really bad I take Midol and eat bananas...bananas have lots of potassium which helps cramping. Also you could try a heating pad. :) Umm try not to eat lots of salty foods and chocolate because salt retains water and makes you feel bloated, same for chocolate.

take ibuprofen or midol (i'm guessing your doctor meant that you don't need prescription medicines)... also bananas work well. take a hot bath or use a heating pad.
