I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I've been having contractions. Not really strong ones, but enough to make me very uncomfortable. I know everyone will tell me to go to the hospital, but I seriously can't afford to run to the hospital every time something happens. I've been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, and had a cerclage put in at 19 weeks. If they don't stop in an hour or so I will go to the hospital, but I'd really like to take care of this without another huge bill! Anyone know any home remedies for stopping contractions?

Thanks for the pointers. I have insurance, but it charges me a $500 co-pay on top of the percentage I owe every time I go into the hospital. I'm a single girl..and my baby is #1 priority. But, I've been on bed rest for the last couple of months and I have no income at the moment. I live 3 blocks from my hospital, and I won't hesitate to go in if my contractions don't stop. I just thought that if I could do something at home, I'd rather spend my new years on my couch...

Drink LOTS of water and take a warm bath. Time your contractions. If you have them at regular intervals and they don't stop after the bath, you need to go to the hospital (or if they get uncomfortable). Trust your instinct. If your baby is in danger, there's no thinking about money. Just go if you feel like something's wrong. Good luck!

There are really no remedies to stop contractions. I do know that when I was put on bedrest because of early contractions I was told to lay on my left side and with my legs slightly elevated, but this was after given drugs to stop contractions. You really should go to the hospital though, the sooner the better, they can stop contractions there most of the time and at 26 weeks that baby is not ready to come out, trust me I had my daughter early and it was bad. She was in the NICU for a very long time. Dont worry about the bill, worry about your son or daughter who is not ready to be here yet. Take care of yourself and him/her.

It is understandable that you do not want to spend anymore more money on hospital bills but that is something you have to deal with especially being pregnant and all. You best bet is to go and get treated by a medical doctor for your safety as well as the baby's.

If you are pregnant and having contractions, the LAST thing that should be on your mind is the hospital bill! For Heaven's sake, go to the hospital. You may think that it is nothing but, you don't know that. You could actually go into labor or miscarry. If something went wrong, you would not forgive yourself. For the sake of your child...GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!

I would not risk it! My friend had a cerclage put in and she went to the hosp everytime something small happen, you ujust never know.
Do you have Insurance? It will cover it. If not have you thought about AIM (Access for Infants and Mothers) or Medi-cal?
You can't put a price on your babys life. Go to the hosp. Home remedies are not always the best.

There are in simple terms lots of issues that could have delivered on them to attempt to renounce or decelerate the contractions, this is futile to 2d-guess the placement. How some distance alongside replaced into the being pregnant? replaced into there a skill issue with the placenta (ought to it have been overlaying the beginning canal?)? replaced into there a skill for umbilical twine themes that were in the previous considered in ultrasounds? How vast replaced into the wellness midsection... replaced into there yet another qualified scientific expert cutting-edge? replaced into it her first new child? If it wasn't her first new child, had she had previous issues? As you will discover, without understanding the finished scientific checklist of the lady, you have not got any theory as to the justifications he wanted the exertions stopped. And for the checklist - his motivations weren't financial. My first new child replaced into further by employing the nurse - she even had to handle an umbilical twine wrapped tightly around his neck. She did no longer get any style of bonus, however the scientific expert have been given his finished pay.

If contractions could be stopped, then there would be no people on Yahoo answers to ask You could have Braxton hicks or false labor, if you arn't sure, then go to the hospital. As long as you pay them something every month, even if it is just $10.00, they can't report you to a credit agency, It just boils down to how much is your health and the health of your child worth to you?

Put your feet up. I'm no doctor but that always worked for me. Unless there is blood or worse mucus then you need to go to the doctor of hospital. The contractions should stop in or within 15 min if they exceed this I would go anyways.

Trying to stop contractions isn't usually possible. You need medical attention if they don't stop by themselves. But try to control your breathing....then if money is a problem, talk to the hospital personnel. They usually have a certain find to help people in financial need, especially those who are pregnant.

lay down...i don't know, in the hospital they use drugs to stop contractions...and since you're a high risk pregnancy, they may want to give steroids to be sure the baby's lungs are developed. that happened in my second pregnancy.
