go to control panel, system,.hardware tab, device manager, see if there's anything in there with exclamation points or red dots (exclamations mean failures and red dots mean disabled)

if disabled, re-enable, if exclamation try uninstalling the driver (right click uninstall) and then installing it again (reboot)

you also might try control panel, sounds, then making sure sound is enabled, volume isn't turned off, the mixer doesn't have things muted, you're running in analog if usuing analog speakers or digital mode if using digital speakers. (depends on the machine).

as the other guys said check your speaker settings in the cntrl panel , if all this is okay , possible check online with acer that there isnt any updates/patches for your particular sound card driver, I had a simialr issue on A toshiba laptop customer had lost all sound resulsted in a bug/glinch in the system in which Toshiba had released a patch update for the sound card and video drivers he drivers and patches are often released before you actually purchased your machine, some machines take effect of the needed patch soner than others, check with all simple stuff first , completley rule out everything before deciding it is your soundcard , not very often the hardware cards go out usually very minor by loosing the driver, hope this helps, let me know.

Kindly examine the driving force, if it became as much as date. If that isn't the answer then you definately can attempt to apply yet another set of exterior audio gadget, be sure you connect it to the right jack (colour green)
