Who says you have to do anything? Do it whenever you want. My mom's will probably be up until next weekend... the 6th or so.

If you have a real tree, to me taking it down doesn't matter if it after Christmas or New Years. If you get tired of picking up tree needles. We always put up a artifical tree. It depends on what mood I am in. We have such a small living room that our tree takes up a lot of room, so I took it down yesterday (Dec. 30). Some people like to leave theirs up until Jan. 6. That is the end of the 12 days of Christmas. Dec. 26-Jan. 6.

My trees were always down the day after
Christmas. They were dropping needles and probably dead. If you want to celebrate the coming of the Magi, go ahead. Do not need a tree to do that.

Any time and it does not have to be after new year.
If it is a real tree then the sooner the better.
