Darryl Hall is from Upper Darby, Philadelphia, Pa originally and is the Hall part of Hall and Oats (with John Oats) John Hall (not related) is from upstate New York and is one of the founding members of the band Orleans.

Both bands had tons of hit records and toured extensively in the 70' and 80's. Hall and Oats still appear occasionally. I haven't heard anything from John Hall or Orleans for quite a while.
