The Muppet Movie. Lots of funny lines for the grown-ups and all the muppet craziness for the kids.
Other good ones:
It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World
Aladdin
Harrold And Maude (definitely not for 6 year olds! but still only PG)
Candleshoe
Kangaroo Jack
Are We There Yet?
The Computer That Wore Tennis Shoes
That Darn Cat (I would suggest the remake with Christina Ricci)
The Producers (the original with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel)
A Day At The Races
Matilda

Indiana Jones trilogy (Harrison Ford) - nicely, certainly merely the 1st 2 are PG - the 0.33 one is PG-13 yet there is no longer something undesirable in it and it relatively is way less frightening & stuff than the 2d. i did no longer preserve the 2d in any respect!!!! Madagascar (sure i comprehend it is lively!) yet this action picture is marvelous!!! i like it!!!! additionally, Over the Hedge - they are the two humorous lively video clips - the two rated PG. Bridge to Terebithia - it wasn't all that large, yet i've got study comments the place human beings theory it became marvelous!! examine it out and spot what you think of.... Sorry, definitely not any National Lampoons movies! If you're going to the theater, go see Happy Feet. It's really family-oriented. The kids will love it, but the adults will have a good time too!

"Ice Age" and "Ice Age the Meltdown"...It can be in fictional characters, but they'll have you laughing from beginning til' end...trust me!
Also, I think a 6yr old is going to be able to watch Over The Hedge....why do I suggest Cartoon-like movies?...because kids are drawn to the innocense of the "colorful characters"...but as far as the "jokes" go...hmm us adults GET THEM more than the "little" ones do!...(No bad words, though) and no lamey jokes like these:
"What makes a "tissue" dance?
*Put a little "Boogey" on it*....ha!
Have fun watching this movies...and remember this: It's not the movies you watch, is WHO you watch them with....(*Small things are what count and become "memorable" the most to you..especially if it's with "family" ;-)
Sincerely,
Ferrari Girl

2 things:
European Vacation is rated PG-13, as Dr. Dolittle.
My favorite PG or less rated comedy is Ghostbusters, which is also on tv right now (comedy central)
