It depends what you mean by "main man".

Alexander the Great was on a mission to take over as much territory as he could just for the heck of it. What's that? Vanity? Greed? Not sure I see much worth getting excited about.

And Ghengis Khan was no hero. He took no prisoners. He burned whole cities to the ground with everyone inside, which is why he was able to take over so much territory. Many times, when he came calling, everyone evacuated and handed the city over without a fight. Of course, he still burned it because he didn't need a city--he lived a nomad's life from birth till death. He also slaughtered most of the male population in places he vanquished and slept with all the women. Scientists recently found out that he fathered more children than any other man in history (they can tell due to genetic markers, which indicate he sired thousands of kids).

So who was the biggest murderer, rapist, and dead-beat dad? That'd be Ghengis.

Who slaughtered a ton of people just so he could have the biggest empire? That'd be Alexander.

Who's the main man? How about someone who's not a tough guy but stands up against the tough guys ... without a weapon? Martin Luther? Gallileo? Gandhi? Martin Luther King, Jr. ...?

Alexander the Great spread the Greek culture all around the known world and reshaped humanity in many ways. His dream was to create a world where there would be no difference between Greeks and ''Barbarians'' and all would be equal. He respected peoples customs and religions. He created this huge empire by the age of 33 in only around 13 years. Ghengis Khan had no interest or whatsoever for the people or the cultures he was a ruthless man caring mostly for conquest and destruction. Not to mention that it took him almost all his life to create his empire.
Alexander the Great is the Greatest of all

Genghis Khan, by far. To put it into modern terms, Genghis Khan would be equivalent to an illiterate slave during the American Revolution conquering all of North and South America, drafting a writing system, writing a Constitution, and organizing a highly sophisticated army. Genghis Khan was probably the greatest military mastermind in the history of man. Plus, his political system lasted WAY longer than Alexander the Great's, whose empire dissolved after his death. On the other hand, the Khanate system that covered Eurasia lasted for 100+years and had a very tremendous impact on the cultures of the region.

Just to let you know to the user above, The topic of Alexander's sexuality is still debated among scholars today since both debating sides have a equal amount of evidence to support their case.Anyways, I guess Ghengis Khan is more Greater, since his empire lasted longer and not to mention bigger than Alexander's. He conquered all of Asia and thought of invading Europe. Alexander's empire collaopsed after his death and didn't last long agains the Romans. But still; I respect Alexander and all his glory.

well both have their greatness. Alexander the great was the first one to conquer half known world at that time and was the first one to reach india. However Ghengis Khan was empror of more then double land as alexander were. so its very hard to tell who was great. I like both of them although alexander were gay.;).

Alexander the Great! No contest, he was long before Genghis Khan, when the World was much smaller.
I can't believe that his sexual orientation had any thing to do with him being better or not? Homosexuality was actually common and accepted in those days.
