Am I right to be upset at her? It is petty....our daughters are arguing, so she went and made other plans while I was ready to accomodate her and her family.

AMEN! We got ditched too! I'm mad as hell- not even a phone call. Yes, I think you're justified being mad! They were flat out rude!!!

If she accepted the invitation and you decided on a time for her to come over, she was being rude. If you invited her and then a time wasn't ever set, she didn't accept the invitation. Remember: An invitation is not a command performance. The nicest thing to do is be the bigger person and smooth things over so that the girls are not fighting. Your daughter is learning how to behave from you. However, I wouldn't invite your friend to do something again until after she invites you to do something with her.

No, this is needlesly rude, She could've take a few minutes to call at tell you that she could not come, also, who says the daughters were invited? And why should she stoop so low as to act so childish? But next time that you get the chance to talk to her, pull her aside and tell her how you feel- don't leave her out of it- She'll never know what she did wrong!

There are people who consider some invitations as not important ones . There are some people who , if something better comes up , jumb at the better opprtunity. Being that she did not respond, I would thin that the invitation was not important to her.
I would mention it to her and say that you did not hear from her and thought she should have called you.
This incident happen to me and the woman was "full of herself"..focused just on things that revolve around her and her getting ahead. I stopped inviting and called it an uncompatible friendship as it gave me no satisfaction in feeling lower than the other person . value yourself more and forget about those who are non- receptive to you and your children. Makes life alot easier .

Yes - you have every right to be upset. Unfortunately there are those out there who will do things like that. The best thing you can do is to steer clear of them. Then they won't disappoint you.
