I have heard stories that when a person is hanged his eyes and tongue comes out and he doesn't die at once but like a fish out of water suffers for a while. I'm almost certain that his neck gets broke like a dry branch. I honestly believe that Saddam must have uttered some verses from the Koran. When it comes to the religion I feel that muslims are more devoted.

If it's done right -- no.
They "drop" the person being executed for a good reason -- the moment the rope stretches tight, the person's neck breaks...also breaking all of the nerve connections. If the neck breaks on the drop, death is nearly instantaneous and there's really no pain. Sometimes the person's neck doesn't break, and in that case they hang there until they suffocate to death -- then they'd be in pretty bad pain for 2-3 minutes, until they passed out from lack of oxygen and in 1-2 minutes more died from suffocation.

According to Dr. Biden and other doctors that have been on the news, and talked about this, they said when the neck snaps it will paralyze the body, because the vertebra is broken in the neck, death is instant. And, that is if the person is dropped like he will be . So if their is any pain it is just seconds.

When the neck snaps first is paralization then all blood circulation stops, all remains is the nerve system which takes at least 15 minutes to die. In actuallity the guilitine is the best method of death.

Nobody will ever know for certain. If it is done in the right way....i dont see how you could. It seems like it would be instant. Now if something is messed up, the rope breaks or something then you are gonna feel pain.
In my opinion i think its probably less painful than the electric chair.

It is meant to snap your neck and or spinal chord which often renders you paralyzed... The body hangs and the mind has all the time in the world to reel and reflect while you suffocate... Which takes a few minutes.
I think they should have crucified him...Or impaled him on a fence post.

I've always been told that you drop, your next snaps, and it's all over. No pain I guess. Unless your next doesn't snap, and your kind of just hanging there by your neck.

No, if it is done right, you will be unconscious almost instantly.
I read that Saddam was reciting a prayer, and his last word was "Mohammed."

If done right, no. When someone is hung, they are NOT strangled to death, rather their neck is broken. That is why the noose is moved off to the side instead of in back.

Yeah, I'm sure it did, but if It snapped his spinal cord he would be unconscious instantly so I doubt he felt it for more than a few seconds.
