Mississippi made possession of less than 30 grams (1.05 ounces) of marijuana a misdemeanor punishable by a $100 to $250 fine: stricter punishments exist for sale, cultivation, subsequent offenses, or possession in a motor vehicle.
Many other states require jail time and report it on a criminal record.
