"Virgin" for non alcoholic drink? I feel uncomfortable with that word and hardly use it while I'm on here. I even lashed out at someone who mentioned it in his answer. Maybe I should drink more...

Untouched. Pristine. Unsullied by tawdry, worldly, base desire and urge.
What's wrong with it? Why the discomfort?
Do you feel uncomfortable with extra virgin (how can you be MORE virgin?!) olive oil? Virgin Mobile? Virgin Atlantic? Virginia Slims? Virginia? Many nuns? Some high school freshmen?
Nah, don't drink more. Focus differently :)

You got angry because someone used the correct term for a non-alcoholic drink? You seem really bright.
There is more than one meaning for the word "virgin."
Virgin means pure, unchanged, not processed. It's used as an adjective for a drink because the drink is in it's normal state, not changed with the addition of alcohol.

The word actually means "HOLY" in a sense so it actually a good thing. Non - Acholic drinks are pure! Just like humans when they are "virgins". I don't want to get religious but in Christianity the Virgin Mary is pure.
P.S. As much as do NOT like the word You can't stop the whole WORLD from saying it. There are alot words that a don't like said but I have developed a power to let them seem unheard to me. You should try it.

Because virgin means "clean" or "not sullied". A drink that is virgin therefore does not have anything that would sully the mind.
I fail to understand your issue with the word.
