Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. When his best friend, a young clergyman, is killed in a mockery of a duel by an arrogant noble, just to quiet his eloquent expressions of democratic ideals, Andre-Louis Moreau vows revenge. The best book I've read recently is The Glass Castle.I'm reading Blood Orange right now and it's really good too. It's about a woman whose daughter was kidnapped and originally you think it's retaliation for her lawyer husband defending a guy accused of murdering a different little girl, but there are turning out to be different possibilities.
