I thought they were making a big mistake. Now, I dont want hate mail. I wasnt for him or anything. Hell, I'm appauled at the things he did and the amount of people he killed. But killing him will do nothing but make him a martyr a few years down the road. Any political figure who makes a stand for their believes and dies for them becomes a martyr. It will make what he did seem okay somehow, if that possible. Sure, maybe a few people got 'closure' or 'relief' or revenge, and yes he deserved it, but and eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind. I'm not trying to sound cryptic or anything. They should have put him away and forgotten about him. That's what I think.

Civilized men should celebrate Saddam´s execution, as civilization celebrated when the "Rosseta Stone" was published 4000 years ago, when king John of England signed the "Magna Carta", when the French Revolution proclaimed the "Declaration of Human Rights" or when in Nuremberg 11 German criminals were hanged for "Crimes against Humanity" after World War II.

I think he should have been made to live out his days in a cell in misery. No matter what the crime, we never have the right to take another life. He should have been made to witness Iraq becoming a better country, without his hand in it's affairs. His hanging is just giving him a cowards way out.

I agree that he needed to be dealt with ... but the older I get, the more ambivolent I am about the death penalty.
I think life with hard labor would have been sufficient, and a greater punishment for Hussein.

he deserved to die, but nobody should be humiliated in their last hours, especially by cowards who were quite for years and now they are so brave...but is Iraq heading towards democracy?or is the present 'government' and his western friends were just too scared not to hang him? as they proved they can't handle democracy and can't end violence in Iraq, it's been getting worse day by day. so they had to hang him, now they can lie back and say they finished the job...it's not their problem any more...they can skip to the next one soon...we just have to mind the gap in the underground...

Sad.
Instead of showing that the Iraq courts had become democratic and just, the slid down to his level.
Saddam supported state-sponsored killings. Which everyone agrees is awful and inhumane. So, wasnt his punishment ironic?

my thoughts were he doesn't look at all that scared and death which lies in front of him he is still not afraid of the blackness which will fall before him in a few short moments..i will forever mourne his death because in a week, month, year something bad is going to happen because of it just because he is dead doesn't mean he still lives on in the minds of his people and militia before he passes over he's going to make sure he gets his revenge

I was surprised he was so calm, but justice was done in his case. My thoughts when I watched this take place on television, I hope all of his victims and their families will be at peace now, justice has been done.

Skeptical.....afraid for our country.....then.....
BODY DOUBLE
Before Saadam's overthrow he had about 5 body double's , men who looked, walked and talked like him....
I wonder if DNA proved that the captured guy was Hussein and not a double......

I didn't watch it, think he had a fair trial and all but to put his hanging on TV, just makes us as low as he was, just me opinion. No, I'm not a liberal. Yes, he was a monster. Just didn't care to see that, kinda like weird to me. Have someone confirm it was him and bury the cretin.
