I have had them since October, and one grew from quarter size to 4inches across, the other is about a 50cent piece size. I feed salmon frozen and Reptomin. What do others feed theirs and the most important, mine will just keep eating after giving him 1/8"x2"very thin strip of fish. I feed this 3 times a day plus 4 Reptomin stix with it. How much should I allow to eat and how ofter? The Turtle sites don't tell much.

They are not as ravenous as crocodiles but can be pretty good little piggies when they are small. You are feeding them a decent ammount of food & should not worry. If you want to try feeding them a few more stix it wont hurt them but if they dont eat it all your tank can start to get yucky. Sounds like they are doing fine.

I have had lots of sliders -- let them go when they get to big for the tank.

Over-feeding is a real problem for turtles. A typical serving is about the size of their head (or up to 3 times bigger). Baby turtles get fed daily. After a year or so, shift to every other day. As an adult, try every 3 days.

My daughters have five turtles, two red-ears,a yellow cooter, a mississipi map and a Forida red-belly. they are all ravenously hungry at least 3 times a day. We feed crickets and several gardes of commercial pellets. If they were huge I bet they would eat a crocodile NO problem.
