I buy the ones that say large, but when you look inside the underware it has the number 7. Does that mean size 7, or just their own personal guidline and nothing to do with dress size.

Dress sizes and underwear sizes do not coordinate. I am a dress size 16 and an underwear size Large or 8...see what I mean? On the Hanes for Her underwear tag, you are probably looking at the number size that matches the S, M, or L.

that is the size.. but they have a personal giudelines. for example im a size 2 and i wear size 5 in underwear bc 5 in underwear is consider a small, so they might still fit!

Who the hell knows. Idiots at the clothing manufacturers don't have a clue how to size clothing in any meaningful way.
They force you to buy their stuff....try it on, find out it doesn't fit, get more, try it on, and repeat until you find a 'number that fits'....then all of a sudden you're a #9.........#12......wtf.
It's a number that has NO meaniong whatsoever, and in my eyes it makes them look like idiots because of it.
