hmm....tough question....well there is not a really definite answer....historians have discovered that many ancient cultures played sports that resembled what is now called soccer, so it's very difficult to choose only one place of origin for soccer....but one of the earliest recorded forms of soccer occurred in the
year 1004 B.C. in Japan...other records show that games very similar to soccer were being played in approximately 50 B.C. between China and Japan.....the ancient Romans also played a game that contained a number of similarities to modern day soccer.....however soccer was not very popular until it was introduced to English society.....when first introduced, British royalty banned it because of its bad reputation regarding violent plays, the game eventually became so popular that the government had no choice but to let it be played....in 1863, the
Football Association (in many parts of the world the
game of soccer is called football because of the use of the feet while playing the game) was created and a standard set of rules was adopted by the organization.....in 1904 the Federation Internationale de Football Association, better know as FIFA was established.....since its creation, more than 140 nations have joined the soccer federation, resulting in FIFA’s overseeing of approximately 39 million players worldwide......that's a quick summary of soccer history.....

Where Did Soccer Originate From

Up till the 1850s you could play football however you liked. There was no fixed team number and anyone could change places withe the goalie. Also you could handle the ball if you preferred. Then a number of footballers met at Cambridge University (think in the 1850s) to set out some rules. Present day rules were set out by the association of teams (thus association football). Rugby University players refused to agree so we got Rugby. The word soccer has a strange origin. Apparently the Cambridge students used their own terms for some things like 'brekker' for breakfast. So they took 'soc' out of association football and nicknamed it 'soccer'. That's how soccer began.

People believe it started back in the 1800's somewhere in England. However, Ancient civilizations that lived long ago played a similar sport to football/soccer. Maybe it originated then...

well, modern football originated in England. However, there has been evidence that a similar game was played in China during the 5th century. This game was mainly used for accuracy though. something which is lacking these days

some say it was when the romans chopped off prisoners heads and used it to kick it around so they hoped nobody would want to do anything bad after seeing what happened to the others. they would just kick it around to the players and then it just started to evolve, just using balls and then making rules up and now it is known as soccer.
