I do not think ANY welfare men and women will give any effort in 2007 to find a job. They are in power now to raise our taxes so they can get more social program money. Why work with that ahead of them?

Well, with the Democrats finally raising minimum wage and maybe the new Congress can get rid of the Mexicans, the job market will be appealing for the middle class to be capable of sustaining a family wage. As for myself, I have had a job since I was 16 years old.

How many Republicans are going to stay out of rehab and the gay bars? Now there's a new year's resolution.

Most of the people who are on public assistance really hold no political affiliation to the Democrat/Liberals. When you are trying to feed yourself and your children I don't think your personal political beliefs are your motivation.
Homelessness, domestic abuse, drug abuse, babies having babies.... All of this really doesn't impact the Republicans?
This is an American issue. This is a human issue. What would you rather do? If America is truly the wealthiest country on this planet why.. Why..WHY are people still living in the streets? Why are there children who will go to bed hungry? Why are there families that one or both parents are working and still have no health care?
If being a HUMANIST means being a Democrat/Liberal then I guess that's what I am.
I will also have you know that I have worked everyday of my life since I was 12 yrs. old and with all of the problems with the social security money being borrowed on and depleted I have already come to the realization that I will probably be working well into my golden years!! Also let's not forget how many companies have closed their doors and absconded with personnel retirement benefits! I know that happens. It happened to my step-father.
In a country as powerful and rich as America is NO ONE should be suffering!!
If we are going to lend a helping hand to all of the other countries of the world as a matter of foreign policy we should be able to elevate the everyday existance of our own people!!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!

I will, I can't deal with the wages the republican era brought
BTW
With the average WORKING wage falling to 11 dollars an hour
That means almost everyone in the country will be visiting the welfare office. Nothing like government subsidizing poor wages while cutting taxes to those that pay them!
ALSO
you reallize the average working person, just above welfare level pays more in taxes than the wealthiest 5% of the nation!

none as long there is welfare. Well, almost none. Not all democrats are on the gov payroll. There are a few that actually believe in socialism. Ooops, they just got elected to the congress and senate.
A99 you have it backwards, the top 5% pay the most, almost 50%The bottom 40% pay almost nothing.

LOL! A few liberal republicans looking for work in 2007, too.

Dead Fox, you are one of the people Churchill was talking about, and will make a fine Republican someday.

Actually, I'm planning on getting a part-time job soon. Just ended some seasonal work at the near-by bookstore. I have an interview in a week with another place. It's difficult with me being a full student and all.

But hey nice try at calling us poor and out of work and lazy. I work hard in school. You know... to get a good job later in life!

All my liberal friends are employed, some working 2 jobs. No matter how hard Bush has tried to destroy the middle class, we have a way of fighting back. We're not afraid of hard work.
