Hey sweetheart I'm alone too and I'm enjoying the peace. It didn't occur to me in time when I agreed to catsit for my parents as they visit my mother's sister, who is getting senile- that I was signing away my New Year's Eve! I was bummed at first but now I'm just thinking over good new year's eves in the past and I know there will be more good ones in the future; this one is just a kind of pause. You can breathe and relax and do whatever makes you feel good. Take a bath or do some exercises or do a crossword puzzle-- or a jigsaw puzzle, when's the last time you did that? If you have a TV (I don't) you probably want to watch the ball drop, but don't watch those shows before then; they are crap and will depress you.
The main wish I have for next year is that our country continue to be a Democracy, because it is going to be a make or break year. For myself I hope I publish some of my poems and I hope I write more, become healthier, and not be a hermit. And it would be nice to be in a deep and loving relationship by the end of the year and maybe planning children.
What else do you really want to happen this year? Imagine it.

You are reflective, seem principled, and sounds as though you understand direction, indirectly if not directly. This can be a time, with the new beginning of another year, to enhance and add substance to your goals.
Something to think about,
Talent develops in solitude.
Yet, character in the stream of Life. ~ Goethe
You have chosen something profound. You chose strength over perhaps
the inane. Social gatherings are a strong magnet. You reflected and made a choice. Stand in awe of your intelligence for it does seem to reflect character. You will have many occasions for social intercourse.
Loser? Not by a country mile!
And, oh, yes, Happy New Year.

There's nothing wrong with staying home. I've done it for a couple of years now. When friends and I would go out, it always ended up with some drunken lout coming over and trying to start something. I think it's a bad night to be out because everyone thinks you have to have this fabulous time and so just go a bit whacko to fulfill that. Anyway, I now only go to friend's houses for New Year's parties. I was supposed to go to a friend's but she got sick.

Chin up Amiga. New Year's Eve is amateur night. People who don't go out any other night of the year are out with 2007 excuses to drink too much and behave badly. Drunks are never as entertaining and funny to others as they are to themselves. Enjoy your quiet evening at home, or spend it here on-line with the rest of us. There's a weekend at the end of every week so you'll have plenty more opportunities to work on your social life and most of them are safer than New Year's Eve. Happy New Year!

trust me kiddo, drinking and partying is way overrated...i know you're young, and it seems to you like you are a loser because you're not out...trust me, we've all had our slower social moments....and to be honest, you're probably a better person for it...those on the outside have more of an opportunity to observe and think about what really matters in life....but there are much better and more important ways to spend your time, even when you think drunken socializing is the only key to living and being "cool".....i'm home, 29, and i don't feel the need to be out there on the road with all those drunk drivers and cops....and trust me, i am one cool chick. ;-)

My mom & step dad are still here (they came up for Christmas) & we will be going to dinner & then taking our boys to a friends house. My husband, my mom, step dad & I will go back to our place & snuggle in for the evening. It is 4:07 p.m. right now & 18 degrees so we decided we did not want to be out in the weather & on the roads

Don't worry, sometimes it is a sign that you need to stay home and not go out. Something bad might happen if you were. I have had plenty of signs myself, that is why I quit drinking and I am staying home away from the evils out there..

My boyfriend and I are staying home to avoid all the loud drunks and also the police and drunk drivers, etc. There is good coverage of the NY party, there is a Packers vs. Bears game, DVD's, music. It is what you make of it. Go Packers!!!
