rap music listeners, how does it feel to glorify rappers that BRAG about self destruction? No integrity?

I just couldn't support rappers who show "zero" integrity.

Having integrity makes me far more proud than bragging about wrong doings. Money is not the issue

How does it feel? Well personally, I wouldn't know. I don't listen to 99% of mainstream rap, and I don't support rappers without any integrity either. But I am a fan of real hip hop (and those true hip hop heads out there know what I'm talking about). I can't blame you though, because I do understand why people come up with that kind of conclusion about rap/hip hop. The only kind of rap a lot of people are exposed to is the mostly negative and stereotypical mainstream rap that's force fed to us on a daily basis. But not all rap music is like what you see on TV or hear on mainstream radio stations. If you were willing to dig a little deeper into the genre, you'd discover that not all rap emphasizes materialism, misogyny or is filled with profanity (i.e. - conscious (as in socially or politically conscious) rap, Christian rap, old school rap, etc.). As a matter of fact, there are a lot of hip hop artists out there who don't fit the "cookie cutter rapper" mold and talk about subjects other than money, sex, drugs and murder. For example:

- Little Brother
- Mos Def
- Talib Kweli
- Nas
- Common
- De La Soul
- Dead Prez
- The Roots
- Lupe Fiasco
- Five Deez
- Ugly Duckling
- Slum Village...(and plenty more)

And a lot of people have either forgotten them, don't "get" their music or have never heard of them at all.

Unfortunately, you'll rarely (if ever) find any of them in the mainstream media. Why? Because for the most part, greedy record companies and good ol' Corporate America have conditioned the masses and flooded the market with whatever "trend du jour" makes them the most money as opposed to real emcees who present actual talent, variety and substance. That's what the real problem is.

p.s. - Just a bit of friendly advice - next time you want to make a point about rap/hip hop music (or anything else, really), it would go over a lot better if you didn't make generalizations or insult and/or talk down to the people who happen to like it. If nothing else, it just makes you look very closed-minded.

Rap music isnt even music. Its just noise and people cursing and it influences Americas youth today more than any other real music. It influences youth to destructive habits and lowers self worth of woman.
Rap music has not influenced one good thing on our society except helping destroy discipline and honor in our society. I mean how can you defend a so called song that says..
"Move B..itch get out da way"
Or Eminem who talks about killing his kids mother and throwing her into the river while his kids in the back seat. HMMM thats really quality music for the kids. And not to mention when they sing songs about killing cops and law enforcement.

Hip hop is dead and it's never gonna be alive until people realize what they are listening too. Hip hop today is more ignorant than important. Hip hop need to be resurrected and reborn again.
