I dont have anything for free to recommend.... and i also won't recommend.

free antivirus program normally can only detect but unable to remove the infected files. else it is not strong enough and they might be a virus themselves.... if really got such a good free program... the companies like norton, trends.. can just close down.

if it is becos of cost($$) you are looking for a free software.. i recommend you to try Cyber Scrub Antivirus. it comes with a 5 years subscription fee waived, you need not renew its license yearly for 5 years with just one year cost.

Or you can consider The Shield Pro 2007, the software and the renewal is much more cheaper compare to most antivirus program. U can also consider Privatefirewall to removes spyware, adware, and other web-based threats to protect your PC from unauthorized access, information theft and diminished system performance.

go to www.trendmicro.com free scan need to scan for both viruses, when finished go back then click on free spy-ware scan. Go to www.download.com : free ad-adware & spywaredoctor. If you have a firewall that could be preventing the install you have to change settings to allow, also if it says need active X, you need to click the yellow bar (right click to allow). Also to run in the back ground try spywareblaster & free firewall zonealarm all found at www.download.com type program name in search. You need to ensure when trying the freebies you click on the free options only, read carefully. I also use www.free-av.com (free virus) it also has a window that pops up when updating it is just for information purposes (advertisement) you just click ok, and continue, a lot have that, just ignore it & click ok to continue with free versions. Scanning can take upto an hour or more. I have been using free-av since 1999 & find it easy & reliable.

I use all programs listed. If you can't get the freebies, 1st uninstall all by start program uninstall, then search for all aspects of the program to remove. Then restart puter - then try freebies again.

AVG and Avast are the best free and better than Norton in my opinion. I had Norton and tried the free and they found stuff on my comp that Norton didn't find.
