Individualism is important because it shows an independent spirit. It shows spirit and determinism. It may not be good to go overboard with individualism for we should have faith in our fellowmen.
It was individualism that built this country. It's "let me think on it, and be guided by input" rather than going with the flow and doing so just to be popular with our peers.

individualism promotes seperatism and when trying to unify only can cause conflict when tryying to reach set goals now if its for the same objective then can be used as for putting ideas and using them to reach said objectives.but individualism to me tells me there only out for themselves not one man is greater then the next

Duh!! We are individuals. We are not colony organisms, but a variant/species, sexually reproducing organism. The only people who do not seem to understand this are Social scientist. We are social animals for a very good evolutionary reason. Because, despite social science misunderstanding, competition is not opposed by cooperation.

sometimes it's good but living in a society is also very important. there are needs of family and people around us that we must consider. being too individualistic makes you seem more selfish. there should be a good balance. individualism does not necessarily mean absolute freedom. being too individualistic and losing intimacy with people close to you is not a real freedom. that kind of freedom must be despised.
